Jon Bon Jovi opens a third community Restaurant in New Jersey

We all have heard the songs “It’s My Life” and “Livin’ on a prayer”, haven’t we? Lead vocalist and frontman Jon Bon Jovi of the legendary band “Bon Jovi” is famous for these two masterpieces. Every rock and roll fans know how rocker Jon Bon Jovi made his career striking with cheering fans at concerts and holding the most Top 10 singles to their name. Jon sure is capable of rocking the stadium, but he can do more than that.

Through his foundation of JBJ Soul Kitchen, he opened his third and latest outlet at the Rutgers University campus in New Jersey. This recently opened restaurant is dedicated to feeding the homeless and needy ones with a touch of warmth. In an interview for the "Eat, Drink & Be Merry" edition of "CBS Sunday Morning" aired on 24th of November, 2019, Jon said that he gets a sense of fulfillment from the work.

"JBJ Soul Kitchen" first opened in 2011 in Red Bank, New Jersey intending to serve quality meals to anyone in need in the community. Here, diners are asked to donate a suggested amount that covers up their as well as someone else's meal. If they're unable to pay, they are requested to volunteer in the restaurant. Most of the labor in JBJ Soul Kitchen is donated and so is the meal, to both employ and feed the needy ones and empower them.

In the interview, Dorothea Hurley said, "Hunger doesn't look like what your mind's eye might imagine. It's the people at your church. It's the kids that go to school with your kids. And I think that was eye-opening for a lot of the community here that said, 'Oh, there are no homeless people here.'"

Since a lot of people deny the fact that there are people who are homeless and staying hungry in their locality in the fear of getting "stigmatized", the needy ones often get tagged as a "social taboo". So to help the society acknowledge them and step forward for the sake of humanity, Jon and Dorothea have been working on "JBJ Soul Kitchen Foundation" since 2011 and stepped one step further with their third outlet.

Even though the restaurant works for the people in poverty, the third community restaurant is also open for the students struggling to pay for food. The restaurant vows to give a quality meal to every one of the next generations who're working hard to put a positive impact in our world. "I am hopeful that the next generation will positively impact our world", says the rocker in one of his Instagram posts with a  placard that has the tag #GoodHopeDay. He also mentioned in the CBS News interview, "We all think it's a rite of passage to study hard and eat ramen noodles. How about if it's the only thing you can afford?"

Jon Bon Jovi has written and sang numerous songs in his life. He cleared out that this philanthropy can never be compared to performing or singing songs. There's a same feeling of righteousness or as the legend stated as "It gives you the same sense of fulfillment". Seems like the couple isn't thinking of retiring anytime soon, doesn't it? Well, let's hope they aren't and wish the very best for their restaurant!
