Certainly this initiative was an inspiring push not only for the netizens but also for the big  Supermarket chains in  Vietnam, leading them to experiment with banana leaves packing or wrapping vegetables, fruits even meat products alternative to plastic packaging.   Lotte Mart, Saigon Co.op, and Big C, all such Vietnamese Supermarkets attempted this eco friendly way of packaging for their customers and has also  been appreciated by them.

Even countries like China has firmly banned the use of ultra thin plastic bags over a decade from 2008 after seeing 66% of plastic drops. Other Asian countries have taken this alarming issue for banning  plastics very seriously,  for instance , South Korea, recently started practicing biodegradable and recyclable containers in their Supermarkets banning plastic bags which are disposable. While Singapore has started raising awareness to the public about the use of plastic bags by launching campaigns. Even shops in Taiwan strictly started  charging customers who  are found using single-plastic bags.

Vietnam, the world's fourth ranked country  for the most mismanaged plastic wastes, is significantly taking numerous efforts on how they can reduce and ban the usage of plastic bags or packaging hence by using this trending effort of  banana leaves and are continuing with their tests and experiments to reduce ways of disposable plastics everyday in   large amount of 2,500 tons.

Meanwhile sources from VNexpress shares reports on how the Lotte Mart chains are intending to bring alternatives of plastics  by testing and other ways as said by a rep of the Supermarket chain. Even Big C has taken into account the use of biodegradable bag with corn powders in their stores.

So the need of the hour leaves us to reduce the bulk amount of plastic consumption around the world by taking such eco friendly initiatives just like  these Asian Supermarkets.
