KFC Is Now Serving Chicken Skin In Indonesia

Popular American fast food brand Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has recently added fried chicken skin to its menu, at select stores in Indonesia. The fried chicken skins will be served sans the meat including breasts, thighs and drumsticks altogether. The chain has however not revealed its plans to introduce the menu to other geographies yet.

As far as many of the KFC fans are concerned, the crispy, crunchy skin is the best part of fried chicken — so KFC figured, why bother with the meat? This has led to introducing the crispy, meatless skin fries. The new addition to its menu was announced in a tweet on KFC Indonesia’s Twitter handle. The tweet listed the six locations in the country — MT Haryono, Salemba, Cideng, Kemang, Kalimalang and Kelapa Gading — that would be presenting the chicken skins on the menu.

The responses to the new item on the menu are divided among the patrons of the fast food chain. While some find it too salty, some find is lacking in adequate seasoning and yet another group is in all praises of the taste of the savoury.

According to reports in The Sun, people have opined, “It's different to what you'd expect as it's not the same as normal chicken skin, but the first bite is good. It's really crisp and crunchy! I'll definitely order again as a snack.”

Facebook users have also reported seeing the fried chicken skin on menus in Thailand, but KFC has not revealed any plans to bring the menu in other countries. A Los Angeles-based food stand called Chick N' Skin already sells fried chicken skin.

KFC had recently made headlines for reports it was also considering creating a plant-based fried chicken for the menu.
