Jon Stewart And His Wife Opened A Safe Haven For Abused Animals On Their Farm

American television host and comedian Jon Stewart bought a farm in New Jersey along with his wife Tracey. But it’s not just any farm. It’s actually a sanctuary for different abused animals.

About 50 miles away from New York City, the 45-acre farm will also have an educational center.

Bufflehead Farm, the couple’s animal rescue sanctuary, is home to a pair of guinea pigs, 2 fish, 2 pigs, 4 dogs, a bird, and 3 rabbits. Seems like they’ve already started working on rescuing animals!

The Stewarts want to help those animals which have been taken away from factory farms. But this doesn’t mean that they’re not interested in helping animals that have been abused in any way.

After acquiring the property of the farm in 2013, it was only in 2015 that the couple announced their plans for the place.

Bufflehead Farm will be seeing more new arrivals in the days and years to come. Ranging from cows, sheep, and goats to chickens, pigs, and turkeys, any animal that’s been abused in any sort of way will be welcomed in this safe haven.

Jon said that his wife Tracey has had a hand in igniting his love for animals. Being a vegan, Tracey had authored a book on how to understand animals, and this inspired Jon.

In a press release, Tracey announced that they had decided to make their property the New Jersey branch of Farm Sanctuary. The educational center would help to build new learners and new leaders for the farm sanctuary movement.

The couple’s dream of turning their farm into an animal sanctuary was given the green light in 2017.
Jon, a vegan like his wife, now lives a calmer and more relaxed kind of lifestyle on his farm. But he does miss being in the spotlight sometimes, he admitted.

He also said that very little of the food in restaurants and elsewhere is 100% vegan or gluten-free.
