New Research Says People Who Swear A Lot Have Been Found To Be Intelligent, Sharper, And Smarter

Actual research conducted at the University of Rochester has proved that if you swear a lot, you are most likely to be smarter than your friends who don’t. A 1000 people were interviewed about 400 normal behavioural traits, pertaining to how often they perform certain tasks & surprisingly, the researchers found links between swearing and how intelligent a person is. Yet another study showed that people able to name a higher number of swear words in a minute scored higher on IQ tests. The extent of research conducted on swearing does seem a bit odd. Nobody saw that coming, right? Swearing is just taken to be a bad character trait and most often than not, leads to some negative consequence or the other. But now that statistics to support the above research has surfaced, there’s no stopping the flow.

That’s not where it ends. Swearing has been found to have some positive implications as well. When a person swears, their adrenal gland is stimulated & there’s a burst of adrenaline into the bloodstream, which relieves stress & pain. It’s like Mark Twain said, “There ought to be a separate room in every house for swearing because it’s too dangerous to repress an emotion like that.”

Swearing can also boost confidence in stressful or unfavourable situations as well as help express oneself better by the use of emphasis. People who swear a lot can end up offending people around them (sometimes it's a little too easy) but there is always the one true excuse (or so we thought); “I was just being honest.” Well, it’s true. Swearing is actually directly ‘proportional’, one can say, to being honest & not running every second thought you have through a society filter.

Sure, when we are among friends, swearing may be a way of connecting with one another & having fun. But outside of that particular circle, nobody is going to refer to some research before they decide that they have had enough and ask you to leave the premises. An unchecked swearing habit may create a wrong impression on people around you at the time as well. Statistical support that finally validates your habit of swearing frequently to some extent might feel like a godsend because it proves that you’re smart, but that doesn’t change the fact that swearing without being mindful of surrounding and/or circumstance can lead to various undesirable consequences.
